After eight years of the NFL, Chip Kelly is back.
Kelly was hired by Las Vegas raiders to be their offensive coordinator under the new head coach Pete Carroll, Matt Zenitz de CBS Sports reports. Rental is the first incursion of Kelly in the NFL since the 49ers of San Francisco have dismissed him as head coach after the 2016 season. It will be Kelly’s first coordinator position in the NFL because he did not occupy The league posts as a head coach – three with the Eagles of Philadelphia and one with the 49ers.
Kelly, 61, had stopped as a UCLA head coach and offensive coordinator of the Ohio State before returning to the NFL. The former NFL head coach is back with the Buckeyes last season, helping the Ohio State to win his first national championship since 2014 – the first season of the 12 -team university football playoffs.
Oregon head coach for four years before being attracted to the NFL by the Eagles in 2013, Kelly went 46-7 to Oregon before introducing his innovative offense in the NFL. He took the Eagles to the playoffs during his first year as a chief coach, but has never returned during the two years since or his year with the 49ers.
Kelly went 28-35 in four seasons as a head coach in the NFL, having a top five in points and yards per game twice (2013 and 2014 with the Eagles).

Kelly drew a power game to gain full control of the staff with the Eagles in 2015, and was dismissed from Philadelphia after a losing season with a single match to play that year. His offense finished at the top of his year with the 49ers, ranking 27th in points per game and 32nd in yards per game before being released by San Francisco.
Kelly resulted in Bruins for seven years and led the UCLA to a 35-34 file before leaving to become the offensive coordinator at Ohio State in 2024. The offensive was 14th in the country in score (35.7 Points per match), including 36.3 points per game in the playoffs.
Kelly’s return to the NFL will be intriguing, given how long it is far from the league and has never been coordinator at the NFL level. He should have the keys to the offense when he returns to the west coast.
