New Delhi: Chinese state media on Tuesday called the upcoming visit to Taiwan by US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi a “Taiwan Strait version of the Cuban Missile Crisis.”
Retweeting a video of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, China’s state-run newspaper Global Times called Washington “provocative”.
He added: “The world is watching to see if Pelosi will pull the trigger with his own hands. If the US-China conflict erupts because of this, Mr. Blinken, don’t you know who is to blame?”

In the video, Blinken said it would be entirely up to Beijing if it tried to “create some kind of crisis during Pelosi’s visit.”
Notably, Pelosi’s visit to the island has yet to be confirmed.
