China urges us to “immediately” cancel the reciprocal prices, promises countermeasures

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce said Thursday that “resolved countermeasures” would need against radical American prices announced by US President Donald Trump and urged Washington to “immediately cancel” his unilateral tariff measures.

“The United States has attracted the so-called” reciprocal prices “on the basis of subjective and unilateral evaluations, which goes against the rules of international trade and seriously undermines the legitimate rights and interests of the parties concerned,” said a spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce in a statement.

The Chinese official described the Trump administration’s decision to impose reciprocal prices as a “typical unilateral intimidation practice”, adding that many countries have expressed “strong dissatisfaction and clear opposition”.

The declaration comes after Trump has imposed high rate rates on many countries, including 34% on China, 20% on the European Union, 46% in Vietnam and 32% in Taiwan.

The White House told Eamon Javers of CNBC that the prices rate on Beijing is added to existing 20% ​​prices on imports from China, which means that the real rate of price on China is 54%.

Other countries have joined China to express their dissatisfaction with the tariff measures.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Ottawa would fight prices “with goal and forcefully”, while his government is preparing for a full set of countermeasures to be unveiled on Thursday.

The acting president of South Korea, Han Duck-Soo, ordered emergency support measures for industries and companies that will be affected, including the automotive industry, ordering managers to actively negotiate with Washington to minimize the impact of additional withdrawals.

In addition, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described Trump’s prices as “bad decision” and said that measures were not an “act of a friend”, although he excluded to respond with reciprocal samples from the United States
