Six children have been tortured by their adoptive parents and another adult in a house in Victorville, some of the abuses going up at least a decade, according to the sheriff department of the County of San Bernardino.
The authorities arrested Kenneth and Tina Key, both aged 60, and their daughter Katlynn Key, 23, on Monday as part of the alleged abuse. Children with home foster care were aged 5 to 16, department officials said in a press release.
Investigators of the crimes unit against children in the Sheriff department launched their investigation on February 13, examining serious and prolonged violence reports in a house in Victorville. The children were out of the home shortly after the start of the investigation, said Sheriff spokesman Gloria Orejel.
The three suspects were arrested for suspicion of torture and are detained instead of a deposit of one million dollars. They should appear in court on Wednesday and were not officially charged by the County Prosecutor’s Office of San Bernardino, but the authorities expect the accusations to be deposited before the end of the day.
There was no additional detail on the alleged torture, said Orejel, and there was no abuse report before the investigation. According to Orejel, some of the alleged abuses took place since the children were placed in the keys’ homes, going up at least 10 years, according to Orejel.
