Children, Staff Exposed to Tuberculosis at New Hampshire Daycare

Children and staff at a Manchester daycare center were exposed to a person with tuberculosis over a five-month period, according to the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services. Health officials reported that the person, who was recently diagnosed with tuberculosis, was at the facility between March 1 and Aug. 6 during his infectious period. The individual is no longer in the daycare environment, the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services confirmed. Families of children and staff who may have been in contact with the person have been notified. Tuberculosis, a contagious disease that can spread through the air, is most likely to be transmitted through close contact and in enclosed spaces. To date, no related tuberculosis infections have been identified, officials said. The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services is working with the Manchester Health Department to identify anyone else who may have had prolonged exposure.
