According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, the child informed a teacher at school that there was a gun in his backpack. The child said he noticed it while riding a bus to school. The child told school officials that the gun belonged to his father and that he did not intentionally bring it to school, according to court documents.

Fisher later spoke with authorities and admitted the .40 caliber handgun belonged to him, showing proof of a school receipt. According to court documents, he admitted to possessing the gun the night before and placing it in the child’s backpack, leaving it there by mistake.

Authorities have not released any additional details about why the gun ended up in a backpack.

An arrest warrant was issued for Fisher on Friday with a $10,000 bond, according to Missouri court records.
