Chiefs vs Ravens delayed due to thunderstorm before kickoff
The NFL opener between the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens was delayed 20 minutes due to a thunderstorm that hit Arrowhead Stadium.
The match was scheduled to start at 7:20 p.m. local time, but the storm delayed the start by 20 minutes to 7:40 p.m.
NBC captured a sensational image of lightning appearing to strike the Kansas City Royals stadium, located next to Arrowhead Stadium.
Both teams had their warm-up disrupted. They had to leave the field and return to the locker rooms. The fans were asked to vacate their seats. The stadium is a bowl and there are not many shelters for the fans.
Luckily for those lucky enough to get a ticket, the weather was expected to be clear for the rest of the evening once the storm passed.

Fans were asked to leave the stands until the storm cleared.
Taylor Swift arrived at Arrowhead Stadium moments before the rain began to fall – with the singer on hand to cheer on her boyfriend Travis Kelce in action for the Chiefs.
The Chiefs themselves joked that they had spoiled the start of the game. Earlier Thursday, they posted a photo of an empty Arrowhead Stadium with the caption: “The calm before the storm.”
As the weather worsened, they retweeted the message with the caption: “We didn’t mean it literally…”
