Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes gets blasted by Lions player

The Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions were in the spotlight on Sunday Night Football on Sunday, October 12, and the Chiefs didn’t just win that game. They had a resounding victory by annihilating the Detroit Lions in a 30-17 victory. Now, it might not be fair to say that the Chiefs totally annihilated the Lions and Detroit was missing numerous players before the game due to injuries, but it was still a definitive win and one that shows the NFL which team is still in the lead.

Any time a team like the Chiefs plays another strong team like the Lions, there will be drama, and Sunday was no exception. The most publicized moment happened right after the match.

After time expired, Lions player Brian Branch appeared to snub Mahomes and slap Chiefs player Juju Smith-Schuster. Mahomes made his thoughts on the matter clear, telling the press after the game: “We play the game between the whistles. They can do all the extracurricular things they want to do, but we play the game between the whistles. And we thought we played a good game today, and we’ll continue that.” Branch was already suspended one game, but now there’s another Lions player stirring up drama.

Lions player takes to social media against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs

Now, during the game, the Chiefs played a pretty clean game, and that was something that came up in conversations after the matchup. Kansas City’s lack of calls has frustrated some Lions, and understandably so.

After the game, a Lions player took to social media to vent about what happened during the game. Of course he wasn’t happy.

The Lions’ Kerby Joseph took to social media after the game, and this post from his In a separate article on X, he reacted to Kelce not being called for what appeared to be a catch as Kansas City attempted a first down.

Joseph also went straight to Mahomes, sharing a photo of Mahomes during the game chatting with a referee and looking very friendly. He captioned the photo, “take me there” in all caps. Joseph, of course, was referring to Mahomes getting too cozy with the refs and perhaps influencing their calls. So, Joseph isn’t a happy camper, but he ended his line of messages about X by stating that he’s “cool” and hasn’t peaked yet.

Mahomes made history in Sunday’s game. With his six-yard pass to Chiefs star Xavier Worthy, Mahomes became the fastest player in NFL history to reach 300 career touchdown passes, including in the playoffs. Mahomes reached the 300 touchdown mark in 139 games, breaking the record that was previously held by a player you might recognize named Aaron Rodgers.

So NFL players can bicker and post on social media, and that’s really the norm. But it says something good that Mahomes continues to make NFL history game after game.
