A popular Michelin-rated Chicago restaurant just received another coveted honor.
Kasama, located at 1001 N Winchester Ave., ranked fifth on Food & Wine magazine’s most recent list of “America’s 20 Best Restaurants, According to Experts.”
“Across the country, there are countless restaurateurs who go to great lengths to make their restaurant an extension of their personality, welcoming customers into their spaces to feed them and make them feel invited,” they wrote the editors of the list. “For the second annual Food & Wine Global Tastemaker Awards, we celebrate restaurants that, through the creative use of ingredients, unparalleled hospitality and overall ambiance, have created the most memorable dining experiences in ‘coast to coast. »
Kasama, a modern Filipino bakery and restaurant opened in July 2020 in the city’s Ukrainian Village neighborhood. In 2023, the husband and wife team behind the restaurant won a James Beard Award in the Best Chef – Great Lakes category.
And in 2022, it received a Michelin star – the only Filipino restaurant to earn this honor.
The restaurant has appeared on countless other Chicago “Best of” lists, including a list of Chicago’s top 20 restaurants based on “gut instinct.”
The restaurant was also featured in the second season of the Chicago-based show “The Bear,” about the restaurant industry.
