Chicago street sweeping to begin Monday – NBC Chicago

As the weather warms and the days get longer, those parking their cars on Chicago city streets will have something other than baseball to watch for over the next six months.

The Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation announced Friday that the city’s annual street sweeping season will begin Monday, April 1, and continue until mid-November or later, depending on the weather.

Throughout the season, Chicago DSS deploys street sweepers at regular weekday times to clear debris from city streets.

Efforts will begin Monday, when dozens of street sweepers will work to remove debris accumulated over the winter months from residential and arterial streets.

Signs indicating the day a given street will be cleaned can already be seen along some Chicago roads, although residents are encouraged to check the schedule for streets near the residence here.

The bright orange signs informing residents of the upcoming street sweeping are posted along roadways two days before the scheduled sweeping.
