Some Chicago roads were blocked and one person was injured following a two-vehicle crash at a busy intersection in the city’s River North neighborhood.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the crash happened around 3:39 a.m. in the 600 block of North LaSalle Street.
A Chevrolet SUV driven by a 25-year-old man was traveling northbound when it struck a Mazda sedan traveling eastbound, police said. The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition, police said. The driver of the Mazda left the scene following the accident, police added.
Authorities say citations are pending.
Around 7 a.m., yellow police tape could be seen blocking LaSalle Street, between Ohio and Ontario streets, near the former Rock & Roll McDonald’s, located at 600 N. Clark Street.
Photos and video from the scene show a heavily damaged gray SUV crashed into a barrier, facing east. Debris was visible scattered on the roadway.
The roads reopened around 7:30 a.m.
