Cincinnati (AP) Elly de la Cruz led in four points and the Reds of Cincinnati beat the Cubs of Chicago 6-4 on Saturday to end a sequence of four consecutive defeats.
Justin Turner and Carson Kelly stabilized while the Cubs had a sequence of three consecutive victories. Kelly entered the fifth round match after the recipient Miguel Amaya underwent a left oblique tension.
Cruz and the Reds quickly struck the first. After Santiago Espinal was walking with a withdrawal, Cruz aligned a quick ball of Colin Rea (3-1) in the seats in the center for a 2-0 lead.
The 23-year-old dynamic stop added a base of two points affected in the center in fifth round to extend the advantage of the Reds to 5-1.
The summit of the Reds command placed 5 for 11 and represented five points scored.
Emilio Pagán obtained his 13th judgment in 15 opportunities.
The starter of Cincinnati, Andrew Abbott (4-0), only granted one point in six rounds. The solo shot by Turner was the first circuit that the left -hander had authorized in 23 2/3 sleeves and 100 strikers.
REA, who had only granted 10 points (nine deserved) in seven previous departures this season, granted six points in five rounds.
The Turner circuit out of the fault post of the left field to lead the ninth obtained the cubs in both points. Matt Shaw doubled with a withdrawal, but Emilio Pagan withdrew Ian Happ and brought Kyle Tucker out to finish the match.
Turner is the first player of the Cubs aged 40 or over in Homer in a match since Gary Gaetti in 1999. Ernie Banks, Davey Lopes, Walker Cooper and Charlie Root are the other cubs that dominated in his forties.
The right-handed of the Cubs Ben Brown (3-3, 5.44 ERA) faces the Reds Lefty Nick Lodolo (4-4, 3.22 ERA) in the final of the series on Sunday.
