Chicago Air and Water Show, Taste of Chicago changing dates for 2024 – NBC Chicago

Two iconic Chicago summer festivals will not take place on their usual dates this year due to other major events.

The Chicago Air and Water Show, which typically takes place the third week of August, will take place this year on Aug. 10 and 11, the city said. The event dates were moved due to the Democratic National Convention, which will take place at the United Center in Chicago from August 19-22.

Chicago officials say more than two million people are expected to attend the air and water show, with North Avenue Beach as the focal point.

This year, the US Navy Blue Angels will be one of the headliners of the show, alongside the Royal Air Force Red Arrows, the US Army Parachute Team Golden Knights and many more. others.

Other military aircraft and ships will also take part in the festivities, with free entry for all spectators.

Moving dates for 2024 will also be Taste of Chicago.

The long-running summer food festival, typically held in Grant Park around the July 4 holiday, is scheduled for Sept. 6-8, 2024, according to the city. The 2023 event was moved to September due to the inaugural NASCAR Chicago Street Race, which closed dozens of streets in and around Grant Park for weeks.

Street racing is scheduled to return to Grant Park this year on July 6-7.
