Chelsea’s lack of interest in signing Ben White from Brighton this summer came as a surprise, according to Danny Mills.
White is set to complete a £ 50million move to Arsenal and questions have been raised as to whether he should have aimed higher.
The Gunners finished eighth in the Premier League last season and won’t play in Europe this coming season.
Reports suggest Chelsea are on the hunt for a new center-back this summer, saying they could try to sidetrack Tottenham for Jules Kounde.
The Blues also want a new striker with Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski all linked.
And the former Man City, Leeds and Charlton Mills defender believes White is an improvement over what they already have at the back.

He told talkSPORT: “If you go to Haaland or Kane, it’s a job done. Good chances of winning the league, but you have to be realistic about it.
“Defensively, they are very strong.
“Coming back to my point on Ben White, wouldn’t Chelsea be interested? Ben White must be better than Andreas Christensen?
“I think so and Arsenal fans probably wouldn’t trade Ben White for Andreas Christensen.
“I’m a little surprised that no club in the top four, a club with more titles in recent seasons, has replaced Ben White.
“If Chelsea need a central defender, he would fit in perfectly.
“He can play in two, he can play in three. He can play in midfield if he has to. Good defender and excellent with the ball.
“From his perspective, he would play Champions League football with a possible chance of winning it again and a chance of winning the Premier League. “
