Chelsea would plan to pay penalty fees to avoid triggering the compulsory buyout clause in Jadon Sancho’s loan agreement at Manchester United. The winger, who joined Chelsea on loan at the end of the summer transfer window, initially impressed but has had trouble for the form in recent months.
Sancho took a good start at Stamford Bridge, recording three assists during his first three appearances and adding two assists with a few goals in his next seven games. However, its shape has dropped considerably since December, with a single pass and no goal during its last 14 appearances all competitions.
Chelsea is looking for Escape Route from the Jadon Sancho buyout clause
Under the terms of the loan agreement, Chelsea would be forced to make permanent agreement of 25 million pounds sterling ($ 32 million) if they finished the 14th in the Premier League table. With the blues currently seated in fourth place with 14 victories in 29 games, the clause should be triggered automatically. However, given the difficulties of Sancho, Chelsea now seems to be eager to get out of the agreement.
According to various media reports, Chelsea could choose to pay a financial penalty instead of completing the permanent transfer. The exact amount of this penalty remains unhappy but should be less than the repair clause of 25 million pounds sterling. This would allow Chelsea to reduce their losses and avoid getting involved in Sancho.
Meanwhile, Chelsea has already made movements on the transfer market to strengthen their team. The club concluded an agreement with Sporting Lisbon to sign young Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo in a joint agreement worth 62 million pounds Sterling (around $ 81 million). Quenda, 17, who had also aroused the interests of Manchester United, will join Chelsea in 2026 for 43 million pounds Sterling (approximately $ 50 million). ESSUGO, currently ready for the Laliga Club Las Palmas, will move to London this summer for fixed costs of 18 million pounds sterling ($ 23 million).
