Chelsea are intensifying their interest in the talent of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov.

The £65million Ukraine international has scored eight goals for club and country this season, including one in Shakhtar’s 3-0 win over Odessa on Sunday.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool have all checked on his progress this season, while there is also interest from Italy.

Chelsea have reportedly held discussions with their representatives in recent weeks to verify the figures involved, while Shakhtar chief executive Sergei Palkin was recently invited to Stamford Bridge to watch Chelsea beat Everton 6-0.

Subsequently, Palkin confirmed to the media: “This summer he has a great chance of joining big clubs. We have had contact with big clubs and some do not negotiate directly with us but are familiarizing themselves with the summer environment.

“He will definitely join a big European club this summer. When I was at Chelsea against Everton, a lot of people asked me about Sudakov.

Sudakov is close friends with Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk and joked that he misses his former teammate in London.

Mudryk has struggled to adapt to life in the capital since his own £62 million move from Shakhtar last summer and remains in regular contact with Sudakov, often advising him to move to England.

Playmaker Sudakov has signed a new contract until 2028 which has a release clause of around £125 million active from June, but Shakhtar are expected to consider reasonable offers for the 21-year-old.

Chelsea are looking to further improve their squad this summer and have assessed their targets in South America.

Some, like 17-year-old Estevao Willian at Palmeiras, are younger, emerging talents, but Sudakov is considered ready to break into the first team after making 87 appearances for Shakhtar and gaining experience in the Champions League. champions and in Europe.

There will be competition for his signature but, if Chelsea continue, they have good relations with representatives of Shakhtar and Sudakov.
