Chefs reveal the McDonald’s ‘special treat’ they can’t resist

From toques to takeaway meals.

McDonald’s is a part of the lives of countless Americans, including fine-dining restaurant chefs across the country, who prove far from immune to the chain’s fast-food charms.

Stopping by the drive-thru on a busy morning when you haven’t had time to make breakfast is a national habit – and the next time you go, you might be waiting in line behind someone who knows prepare the foie gras.

In a delicious article published by Eat This, Not That, a group of food connoisseurs revealed the details of their favorite fast food breakfast sandwiches – with Mickey D’s Egg McMuffin emerging as the clear winner.

“Breakfast at McDonald’s is a safe place for me and a special treat,” Brian Cartenuto, chef/owner of Bird Dog in New York’s West Village, admitted to the outlet.

“When I have time to drop my daughter off at school, I can swing by and stop by if I have a few extra minutes for that perfectly circular breakfast,” he said.

“McDonald’s breakfast sandwiches hold a deep place in my heart,” Ben Robinson, executive pastry chef at Echelon Kitchen & Bar in Ann Arbor, Michigan, revealed to Fast Food Professionals.

“My love began when I would run to restaurants for half days in high school, trying to get there before breakfast closed. Later, it became the go-to remedy for early morning hangovers before work. Now that I’m older and (a little) more mature, I try to eat healthier, but I still crave those nostalgic meals,” he said.

Some can’t help but put their own twist on this aging favorite — Sophina Uong, chef/co-owner of Mister Mao in New Orleans, said she’ll order a hash brown patty on the side, then the would slide right in the middle of her. morning treat.

It’s her “number one cure for airport hangovers,” she told a reporter.

And that apparently isn’t the only item on the McDonald’s menu that’s catching the eye of experts.

Jeff Chanchaleune of Oklahoma City’s nationally renowned Ma Der Lao Kitchen admitted he’s “a big fan of the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit.”

“I think I actually prefer it to any of their burgers or chicken sandwiches. It’s so flavorful, buttery and well balanced for a fast food breakfast sandwich. It’s also very nostalgic for me,” he said.

Other favorites cited in the article included Dunkin’s Everything Bagel Sandwich, Chick-fil-A’s Spicy Chicken Biscuit and McDonald’s McGriddles.

Earlier, a dietitian revealed to the same publication her favorite orders at the Golden Arches when she was dragged there by her children. One of his fallback solutions? The Egg McMuffin.

The circular sandwich is a “solid, easy-to-eat, filling and satisfying breakfast choice,” wrote Kelsey Kunik for Eat This, Not That.

“It’s relatively low in sodium, with just 33 percent of the recommended daily value (DV), contains 17 grams of filling protein, and even offers 3 grams of fiber,” Kunik said of the 310-calorie treat.

However, not all professionals can indulge in such low-end pleasures without career consequences: a health-conscious influencer recently went viral by admitting that she fired her personal trainer after seeing him eat a McDonald’s hamburger.

“It’s a question of credibility,” said Ravena Hanniely, 23, to defend her decision.
