Character “ born of sexism ”

While Amazon MGM is preparing a new restart of the James Bond franchise, Helen Mirren admits that she “never liked” the British spy series because of “the way women were” presented. While the prospect of having an actor to face the nickname 007 has been rebounded in Hollywood for several years, Mirren says that she is not interested in seeing this cast because of the character’s story.

“The whole series of James Bond was not my thing. It was really not the case. I never liked James Bond. I never liked the way women were in James Bond. … The whole concept of James Bond is soaked and born of deep sexism,” Mirren said to the norm in a new interview. “Women have always been a major and incredibly important part of the secret services. They have always been. And very courageous. If you hear what women have done in French resistance, they are incredibly, incredibly courageous. So I would tell real stories about extraordinary women who have worked in this world. ”

Mirren is currently co-sufficient alongside an old James Bond in the new Paramount + crime “Mobland”, which features Tom Hardy as a fixer and presents Pierce Brosnan as husband of the gang chief of Mirren. While the English veteran actress has her own opinions on the 007 franchise, she praised Brosnan speaking to the norm.

“I am a big fan of Pierce Brosnan, I mean a massive fan,” said Mirren. “Obviously, it is beautiful and everything. And I think it is fabulous in “Mobland”, but it also happens to be one of the most beautiful people with whom you will never have the pleasure of working. And indeed Daniel Craig, whom I met and that I know a little. Again, a very beautiful graceful person. ”

The James Bond franchise is currently going through its own dramatic changes. In February, Amazon MGM concluded an agreement to take creative ownership of the property, with longtime commissioners of Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson ceded the surveillance of the smoking giant.
