Chael Sonnen apologizes for having acted as “Madman” in the hotel incident

Chael Sonnen is clean with regard to a ugly incident of his past.

In December 2021, Sonnen was briefly detained in a Four Seasons hotel in Las Vegas after an altercation with a couple, Dr. Christopher Stellpflug and Julie Stellpflug, in a corridor. The stellpflugs said that Sonnen seemed to be intoxicated and that he slapped a glass of Christopher without provision. An employee of the hotel also said that he had been struck by the Title UFC Title Challenger.

Sonnen then undoubtedly pleaded for a single accusation of the crime of violation of peace after being initially accused of battery per strange and 10 charges of battery of crime. Following his plea, he was sentenced to a fine of $ 750.

Sonnen published a statement apologized to the Stellpflugs for his actions on Wednesday.

“Dr. Chris and his wife Julie Stellpflug, Mr. and Mrs Stellpflug, a number of years ago in Las Vegas, descended a corridor trying to go to their room, met a maniac, and I apologize,” said Sonnen on Instagram. “I wanted to apologize for several years, but it was simply not good. It’s a whole situation, it just takes time, but I must tell you that it bothers me.

“I would extend these apologies to their children. The children were not present, but I have children. Turn the role to reverse and consider me a child with my own parents, your parents get drugs in the media and a legal affair because they meet a crazy while doing what they should do in a corridor, which works in their room.

Sonnen tackled the accusation of poisoning, but did not specify exactly what his physical condition was when he met the stellpflugs, only briefly mentioning a “journey” which could have darken his judgment. He also wanted to clearly indicate that his wife had no involvement in the incident.

“I was alone when I met them,” said Sonnen. I was traveling with my wife and because of that, there was something I had heard or a combination you asked for – my wife had nothing to do with the story, they all never seen, did not even put themselves on Mr. and Mrs Stellpflug. I sincerely apologize. You.”

Sonnen, 48, is currently an analyst on the ESPN UFC programming and frequently shares his MMA opinions on his YouTube channel. During his combat career, he challenged twice for the UFC average weight title and once for the UFC Light heavyweight title. He closed his career with Bellator, retired in 2019 with a professional record of 31-17-1.
