US President Donald Trump moves too quickly, alienated the Allies, makes the Americans poorer and tarnishing the sterling reputation of American assets, the CEO and founder of Citadel, Ken Griffin said on Wednesday.
Although the president may have identified real problems, his methods to solve them do not seem to work and are unlikely to relaunch American manufacturing, Griffin told Gina Chon de Semafor at World Economy Summit in Washington, DC.
Previously, Griffin said: “no compared brand” to American Treasurys, the strength of the US dollar or the country’s solvency. But Trump’s tactics have “eroded” this reputation.
“We are putting this brand in danger,” said the billionaire coverage fund manager. “It can be a life to repair the damage that has been caused.”
Investors have poured US stocks and treasure in recent weeks in response to Trump import prices to imports to the United States. While most countries have obtained a 90 -day stay, Trump increased homework on China and suggested that he could dismiss Jerome Powell, the respected governor of the American Federal Reserve. (Trump delivered these comments, saying that he did not intend to remove Powell.)
Using the euro as a reference, the United States “has become 20% poorer in four weeks,” said Griffin, an environment that produces no winners or light points.
“There is no great opportunity when the pie narrows quickly,” said Griffin. “All you are trying to do is walk and not drowning.”
Griffin said that his “most serious concern” was whether those responsible can behave themselves so that they do not “decrease the stature” of the United States.
“How does Canada think about our country today against two months?” What does the United States think about two months think? ” Said Griffin. “And some people cry, well, that doesn’t matter. But you know what? This is important for a very deep reason. The whole Western world is engulfed in a debt crisis.”
Griffin compared the situation to which the companies faced with those against Harvard: Trump was “on the spot that Harvard has room to solve very important and significant problems,” he said, but targeting the school administration has increased to “an attack on one of the pre-eminent American brands”.
“What name in the world is more appreciated than Harvard’s name?” Asked Griffin.
