CEO accused of having smothered the barefoot passenger

An incident that led to an assault charge for a CEO began when the man’s wife told a barefoot unknown in a cocktail salon of cruise ships to put her shoes, according to the authorities. Kenneth Degiorgio, CEO of First American Financial Corporation, would have stifled the man after having sworn to his wife and gave him his finger, reports NBC News. The incident occurred on Monday evening in international waters near Martinique. The authorities say that Captain of Virgin Voyages Cruise Ship has ordered Degiorgio to stay in his cabin until the ship reaches Puerto Rico the next day. FBI agents in Porto Rico tried to interview Degiorgio, but he refused to answer questions, according to a criminal complaint.

The altercation occurred at the On the Rocks bar on Resilient Lady, a cruise ship reserved for adults, the New York Times Reports. The FBI says that Degiorgio’s wife Nichol Degiorgio, told barefoot dancer: “Listen, we are all adults here – can you put your shoes?” The criminal complaint indicates that the video of the ship shows Degiorgio heading towards the man and placing his hands around his neck. The man told investigators that Degiorgio had threatened to kill him and that he “felt like his throat was going to be torn off.” Nichol Degiorgio told investigators that she shouldn’t have told the man to put his shoes and that he never touched him, according to the complaint.

Kenneth Degiorgio, 53, Has Been CEO of the California-Based Financial Services Company, Which has more than 19,000 employed, since 2022. “Violent crimes committed Aboard Cruise Ships Fall Under Federal Jurisdiction, and we take them very seriously,” Devin Kowalski, the acting of the Fbi’s San Juan Field Office, Said Thursday, per the Times. “If you violate the law at sea, expect to deal with consequences on earth.” In a statement, Degiorgio’s legal team said that he “replied to the actions of an individual who had harassed his wife, making her feel threatened and intimidated”, adding that “although responsible for a simple offense, Mr. Degiorgio is impatiently awaiting absolved.” (More cruise stories.)
