Celtics star Kristaps Porzingis said he’s been dealing with week-to-week pain from his soleus strain and doesn’t have a firm date for his return.

“It’s something, it’s not nothing, you know?” Porzingis told reporters Saturday. “It’ll take a little while, that’s for sure.”

He said this calf injury is more serious than the one he suffered during the regular season and will take a little longer.

“It’s still pretty early,” Porzingis told reporters. “I think it will be clearer once I start doing more things.”

Porzingis said he rolled his ankle and may have compensated for that by injuring his calf. He said the injury was not as bad as he initially thought, nor as bad as it could have been, but that he was “not very close yet.”

However, he is making progress and “expects a recovery at a historic pace”. He hopes to travel with the team this series.

“Every day, a lot of progress” Porzingis told reporters. “It’s still very fresh, but it’s progressing.”

Porzingis said he is doing everything he can to return as quickly as possible, while making sure to listen to medical staff and follow their directions.

He’s not in the field yet, but he hopes to start “doing stuff” very soon.

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said he had no idea of Porzingis’ schedule and hadn’t paid any attention to it.
