Shaq, Charles and Kenny predict whether Boston’s courage will hold match 6 in New York.
New York (AP) – A championship window seemed to close when the Boston Celtics left Madison Square Garden earlier this week.
Jayson Tatum had just been swept away on the ground With an injury at the end of the season a few minutes before the Celtics were pushed to the edge of elimination. The players were definitely broken down.
The reigning champions of the NBA certainly did not come out.
They return to New York Friday evening for match 6 (8 and, espn) semi-finals of the Eastern Conference, believing that they can extend the series and the waiting of 25 years of the Knicks to return to the conference final.
“It is winning or going home right now, so none of us want to go home and we understand that it will only become more difficult,” said Celtics goalkeeper Derrick White. “We haven’t done anything yet. I just had to find a way to go to New York and win a match.”
Only 13 teams overcome a deficit of 3-1 to win a series. The Celtics are trying to do it without their top scorer, who broke his Achilles tendon late late in the Knicks 121-113 victory in match 4.
“I know it’s a bit easy to write things. Obviously unhappy what happened to JT. But we still have basketball to play,” said Celtics star Jaylen Brown. “I believe in this group, so don’t count us for the moment.”
THE Celtics drove a 127-102 victory Wednesday and led by at least 14 points in the second half of the five games. The Knicks have rallied to win three, but the starters know that they cannot continue to put the team in a hole.
“We have to be better,” said Jalen Brunson, All-Star, Knicks. “Flat out.”
A victory would send the knicks to the conference final for the first time since they lost against the Indiana Pacers in 2000. The Pacers would again be the opponent, after eliminating Cleveland, head of series, in a series that would start in New York on Wednesday.
If the Celtics win, the match 7 would be in Boston on Monday, the winner obtained only one day of rest before welcoming the Pacers.
White scored 34 points in match 5 and is 13 for 24 on a range of 3 points in the last two games. Brown comes out of 26 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds and scored at least 19 points in the five games, a reminder that the Celtics go far beyond Tatum.
“They defend champions,” Karl-Anthony Towns of Knicks said. “So, obviously, losing Tatum is a hard blow for their team, but we know they are more than capable of beat anyone any night.”
