Celebrations while the South Korean court withdraws the president dismissed Yoon Suk Yeol

Friday, the high -level court of the South Korea of Korea put an end to months of political troubles when he unanimously decided to withdraw the president dismissed Yoon Suk Yeol on Friday, paving the way in the country to elect a new leader.

But the political crisis that Mr. Yoon sparked with his declaration of martial law poorly judged in December – and his dismissal which followed by the National Assembly – revealed a deep crack in the polarized policy of South Korea which could prove more difficult to heal. For months, the demonstrators for and against Mr. Yoon took over the streets of Seoul.

The country must continue without an elected leader before the elections occur, because it deals with external challenges which include the deepening of military cooperation between North Korea and Russia and an upheaval of the world trade inflamed by the new prices of President Donald J. Trump.

But after months of political limbo, the decision of the Constitutional Court finally gave South Korea a feeling of orientation which he desperately needs.

Mr. Yoon, who had held his job with challenge despite his dismissal, is now a former president. In the coming days, he must leave his presidential residence at the top of a hill in the center of Seoul, and the government will plan a national election because its successor must be chosen within 60 days. On Friday, officials lowered a presidential emblem in front of a building where Mr. Yoon led the government. The military units began to remove its portraits.

“This is a victory for South Korean democracy,” said Sung Deuk Hahm, dean of the Graduate School of Political Studies from the University of Kyonggi, remembering how the South Koreans had sacrificed their lives to oppose the military regime in the past. “It took time, but this time, the rule of law finally prevailed without delicstress or serious violence.”
