CDL fans rejoice as MW3 devs ‘actively investigate’ snake


CDL fans have praised Sledgehammer Games for announcing plans to investigate snakes in MW3.

Greg Reisdorf, Multiplayer Creative Director at Sledgehammer Games, and Adam Iscove, Senior Director of Development, sat down with COD content creator “Repullze” to discuss the launch of MW3 and what changes players can expect at future.

Most of Repullze’s interview revolved around multiplayer, such as the game’s prestige system. However, the developers shed some light on what CDL fans and players can expect in the future. First, we received confirmation that the developers will be focusing more on hardpoint spawns once the competitive pool has been decided.

And in a surprising update, Sledgehammer Games has provided insight into one of the most controversial CDL issues in recent years.

MW3 Developers Confirm Snake Investigation

The snake refers to players positioning themselves behind an object on a map and quickly switching between prone and crouching positions. The movement mechanic makes it difficult for players to shoot players from cover, and professional players have generally taken advantage of MW2’s mechanic.

This came to the detriment of CDL fans, as some community members claimed it ruined the viewing experience watching teams engage in meandering battles every round.

Sledgehammer Games’ multiplayer creative director Greg Reisdorf empathized with players and discussed MW3’s movement mechanics with Repullze.

CDL Intel posted a clip from the stream and reported: “Sledgehammer developers have confirmed that they are “actively investigating” what can be done about the snake.

Reisdorf said: “If you meander, you are intentionally trying to spoil the game and get that advantage. So when people see that from the other side and try to shoot that person, it’s not a great experience and it seems kind of weird and funky.

The MW3 developer explained: “We want you to be good at the game. If you can do it, go for it, but at the same time, there’s always a player on the other side, and we want to make sure that it is also a good experience for them.

Sledgehammer Games understands that the snake is part of the game and does not discourage players from taking advantage of any advantage they can find, but a line must be drawn. “We want you to be good at this game. It remains to be seen whether the developers plan to make any concrete changes before the CDL season begins in December, but fans can at least feel comfortable knowing that MW3’s developers are aware of the issue.
