Carrier of planes based in San Diego Usso Carl Vinson Docks in Busan, South Korea – San Diego Union -Tribune

The aircraft carrier based in San Diego, USS Carl Vinson, stopped in Busan, South Korea, to what is roughly in the middle of its last deployment.

The navy says that the carrier arrived on Sunday and was accompanied by the USS Princeton cruiser and the destructive USS Sterett, both of which are worn in San Diego, and by the destructive USS William P. Lawrence, which is brought to Pearl Harbor.

“A visit bearing aircraft carrier demonstrates our commitment to the alliance between the United States and the Republic of Korea,” said counter-admiral Michael Wosje, commander of the group 1 transport group, in a press release.

“Our alliance remains the pin in peace and security in Northeast Asia and in the Korean peninsula, and we are committed to working with our navy Rok counterparts to ensure the stability of the region.”
