Carlos Santana collapses on stage during a concert in Clarkston, Michigan after suffering from heat exhaustion and dehydration


SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — Carlos Santana, Grammy-winning artist and longtime Bay Area resident, collapsed on stage during a Tuesday night concert in Michigan due to exhaustion from heat and dehydration, according to his manager.

Videos posted to social media showed medical personnel surrounding the rock legend after he collapsed in an outdoor amphitheater about 40 miles northwest of Detroit.

In a press release, Santana manager Michael Vrionis said he was taken to hospital for observation and is doing well.

“Tomorrow’s show, July 6, at the Pavilion at Star Lake (formerly S&T Bank Music Park) in Burgettstown, PA. will be rescheduled for a later date. More details to follow via Live Nation,” Vrionis said.

Santana is a longtime Bay Area resident, growing up in the Mission district of San Francisco where he graduated from James Lick Middle School and went to Mission High School.
