Carlo Ancelotti praised Xabi Alonso as “ one of the best coaches in the world ” and insists that the former midfielder has all the references to be taken in Real Madrid, in the middle of the growing speculation according to which he will be succeeded by the boss of Bayer Leverkusen.
Ancelotti should resign at the end of the season after a second fate decorated in Los Blancos. Sunday’s trip to Barcelona is the first of its last four games, with its departure likely to be confirmed once the campaign is over.
Alonso, who played for Real Madrid and Liverpool during a sparkling career which included triumphs of the Champions League with each club, he would leave Leverkusen this summer on Friday.
The 43 -year -old man is widely tilted to return to the Spanish capital as a management, some reports even suggesting that he had already verbally agreed a contract operating until 2028.
Asked about Alonso on Saturday, Ancelotti told journalists: “I saw the news that he was leaving Leverkusen, where he did a fantastic job. All doors are open to him because he has shown that he was one of the best coaches in the world.
Alonso saw his reputation soaring since his treatment of Leverkusen in 2022. In his first full season, he guided the club to an unbeaten title from Bundesliga and also lifted the German Cup, obtaining a double history. Although Leverkusen has not reached these same heights this season, the Alonso management stock remains high.
