Cardinal Krajewski brings the Pope’s gift of 4 ambulances to Ukraine

While Ukraine faces another Easter marked by war, Pope Francis continues to show his proximity to people suffering from concrete gestures – three years after what he previously called “a painful and shameful birthday for humanity”.

Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, prefect of the Dicastery for the Charity Service, embarked on his 10th mission in Ukraine, at the request of the Pope and with the help of three Ukrainian drivers.

The papal altar has delivered four ambulances in the Eastern European country which are entirely equipped with medical devices necessary to save lives.

A declaration from the Dicastery for the Charity Service, published Monday, quotes Pope 2024 of the Pope Urbi and Orbi Message as a call for action. “Only Jesus opens the doors to life,” said the Pope, “these same doors that we continue to close with the wars propagating throughout the world.”

Ambulances for Ukraine torn by war

The four ambulances carry the coat of arms of the state of the city of the Vatican and are intended for the most harsh areas affected by the war.

Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, the author of the Pope, will remain in Ukraine for a few days to be close to the people, pray with them and embody the care and the concern of the bishop of Rome.

This marks the 10th mission of Cardinal Krajewski in Ukraine and takes place in the context of the Jubilee of Hope.
