The legend of Wales Ramsey has only three games to save his childhood club from relegation
It will be Ramsey’s leading management role and he has only three games to save his childhood club, which will also play West Brom and Norwich this season.
He is the third coach in charge of Cardiff this campaign.
Erol Bulut started the season but was dismissed after his team won a point of their first six games – their worst start to never. Riza, the Bulut assistant, then gave the reins temporarily before receiving an agreement until the end of the season.
However, with the club passing by the release of Ligue 1 for the first time since 2002, drastic measures have been taken – with Ramsey now at the helm.
Ramsey broke into the Cardiff team at the age of only 16 in 2007 before joining Arsenal. He returned to Bluebirds in 2023 but saw his limited playing time due to injuries.
He had to miss the rest of the season, after having undergone surgery on a problem of the hamstring sustained last month and will now focus only on coaching.
Riza, 45, took a promising start after replacing Bulut and his appointment was made permanent until the end of the campaign. But Cardiff has dropped since February, winning only twice since and has been at the bottom of the form table.
He angry supporters earlier this week when he accused “many of them” of being “without any idea” after having criticized him as well as his players for their displays.
Ramsey has assumed coach functions at the Cardiff Academy since its creation for its second fate. He played for Arsenal between 2009 and 2019, making 369 appearances and scoring 64 goals. A regular in the midfield under Arsene Wenger, he won two FA Cups.
