After the “WAP” rapper came under fire for calling the designer of his 2024 Met Gala dress an “Asian designer” on the carpet, rather than an “Asian designer.” Sensen Lii, by Windowsen: Cardi explains how she forgot her name in the heat of the moment.
“First, when I was on the red carpet, I was really scared,” she said in a now-expired social media video shared by TMZ. “Because her dress was supposed to be on a little catwalk, and I practiced posing on the catwalk. But on the carpet, I wasn’t allowed to use the catwalk. So I had a lot of stuff in my mind, and I was rushed to the front of the line.
She continued, “So when I was interviewed, I kind of forgot to say the creator’s name because his name is a little complicated, but like my mind was racing. I said ‘Creator Asian because I knew the designer was Asian, but I wasn’t sure of the designer’s nationality. I didn’t want to confuse anyone’s nationality.”
