She also opened up about the massive fire that ravaged her Los Angeles home in March, resulting in millions of dollars in losses.

Model-turned-actress Cara Delevingne, who made a splash in the fashion industry with her debut show for Burberry in 2011, recently revealed that she first drank at the age of eight. Cara revealed that it was at her aunt’s wedding in 2001 and that, despite being underage, “I drank that day,” she recalled. “I was eight, what a crazy age to be drinking.”

“I thought drugs and alcohol were helping me cope,” she told the outlet. “But they weren’t, they made me sad and extremely depressed. I feel like I’ve taken back control of my life and I’m not being controlled by other things anymore.”

In 2022, the model decided to ditch her old ways and embark on a journey towards sobriety. However, she mentioned that she had no problem going out with friends to parties where there was drinking. She now attends all parties, events, and festivals sober. She recalls attending the recent Glastonbury Festival without drinking and feeling tired, unable to stay up late. Despite this, she admitted that it was fun and expressed a desire to maintain her new lifestyle.

The incident that convinced her to quit drinking

According to People, the 31-year-old described an incident in which she saw paparazzi taking photos of her after the 2022 Burning Man festival. She said it was a serious “wake-up call” for her.

“Look, I signed up for this, it’s my job, it’s what I do. But without it, would I be sober today? I would never have been Sally Bowles in the West End, I’m very proud of that,” she said, referring to her recent role.

Cara Delevingne recalls the massive fire that ravaged her Los Angeles home

On March 15, rumors surfaced that the model’s home in Studio City, California had been ravaged by fire. Cara had to deal with a serious financial setback. However, she mentioned that if she hadn’t been sober, she would still be in shock.

“It would always affect me deeply. Of course it did, it’s very sad,” she said. “That will never change. But I don’t use it as a tool to make myself sad.”
