Why are you, Kim K? American Horror Story: Delicate took a break from its usual storyline surrounding rising star Anna Victoria Alcott (Emma Roberts) and her difficult pregnancy to devote an entire episode to the women also haunted by the satanic baby-stealing cult before her. With season MVP Kim Kardashian out of the way, this week’s episode finds a new scene-stealer in Cara Delevingne.
THE Suicide squad The actor was introduced as Anna’s nurse, Ivy, in the first part of the season, which began airing in September 2023. However, now, Delevingne is shaping up to play a bigger role.
Episode 7, “Ave Hestia”, shows that Ivy is part of the satanic cult that is targeting Anna and her baby. The gruesome beginning of the episode shows Ivy performing a C-section to give birth to twin girls in 42 AD in Western Europe.
Ivy falls asleep and is holding two clean babies swaddled in baby blankets when she wakes up. Who washed them? And why do they seem much healthier than they did when the mother removed them from the incision in her womb?
Delevingne’s character sees a person in cult costume with a deer helmet approach her and she asks, “Who are you?” »
Viewers find Ivy in 1243 Galway, Ireland, where she raises her twins according to the strict rules of the cult. The mother of two clashes with her daughter who expresses that she doesn’t want to harm women, despite Ivy’s claims that they do it for “the greater good.” The girl menacingly points out that their actions are only good for “her good,” referring to an undisclosed woman.
As the scene continues, Ivy transforms into the mother from hell as she carelessly licks dinner from her fingers and chastises her daughter before participating in a creepy ritual. She uses magic to pin her daughter against a brick wall, spits a red substance in her face and grabs her by the neck. “Do you dare to contradict me? I opened myself so that you and your sister could enter this world. I gave my life and you reward me with what? Insolence?”
Ivy continues to scold her. “You stupid, stupid thing.” We cannot create anything. We are women. We are not allowed to do so. We can only choose whether we want to be right or happy.
She tells her other daughter to “finish the placenta” and the meal continues. Afterwards, the three dance creepily around their living room while singing to perform a nightly ritual.
It is later revealed that the nonconformist daughter is Adeline Harding (Annabelle Dexter-Jones), the late ex-wife of Anna’s problematic husband, Dex Harding (Matt Czuchry).
Delevingne goes all out on the dinner scene and even left a person on Twitter affirming that she is “coming for Kathy Bates’ crown” in allusion to the American horror story the story of a former student in horror films and TV shows. Delevingne channeled the rigor of Toni Collette’s viral “I am your mother” speech from HeredityNorma Bates’ co-dependency Psychologyand the psychological abuse inflicted by Bates’ Annie Wilkes in Misery.
Another wrote after the intense dinner scene, “Cara Delevingne ate this so well.”
The trailer for next week’s episode teases the return of Anna and her publicist Siobhan, played by Kardashian, leaving us eager to see if Delevingne can hold her own against the two’s beloved talent for the drama. For now, kudos to Delevingne.
