Capcom casually announces Resident Evil 9

With remakes of remasters of re-releases of remakes, it really feels like there’s always pretty much 372 different resident Evil games in development at any time. However, brand new ones are rarer, and this was casually confirmed by Capcom last night. Resident Evil 9although it almost certainly won’t be called that, is in the works and is being directed by Resident Evil 7This is Koshi Nakanishi.

As IGN brought to our attention, a new resident Evilthe first since 2021 Resident Evil Villagewas mentioned during the Capcom NEXT broadcast on July 1st. “We are creating a new resident Evil,” said Biological hazard director Nakanishi, as if it were no big deal, while promoting the news that the mobile version of RE7 is now available on Apple mobiles.

During the internal interview, Nakanishi explained: “It was really difficult to determine what to do next 7. But I found it, and to be honest, it seems substantial to me.

He went on to say that he was unable to share further details, but interestingly this comes on the heels of the director explaining that his work on RE7 It was about redirecting a series that had gone off the rails, had become too action-oriented and wasn’t scary enough. Biological hazard it was about returning to those franchise origins, so it seems reasonable to bet that there’s a very similar goal for the ninth mainline entry.

This was a pretty big piece of information, dropped in the middle of a rather quiet half hour. The opening story was more detailed on Kunitsu-Gami: The Path of the Goddesswhich Ethan is definitely excited to playbut it may not be a name that captures the nation. Then came a very peculiar confusion between Death resurrectedremastering ofAnd Resident Evil 7‘s mobile remaster, both games seem to interrupt each other’s sections in the strangest ways. And in the middle of it all, oh yeah, we’re creating a new Bad Resi.

Waiting for, if the leaks are true you can also expect OBHT remakes Resident Evil Zero And Resident Evil: Code Veronica. The latter has been remade a record 9,000 times.
