Canva’s hip hop routine mocked with Lin-Manuel Miranda

A presentation at a tech event went viral Sunday as hundreds of social media users compared it to — or blamed — Lin-Manuel Miranda’s is working on Broadway, with users on trending topic X suggesting the Tony winner be taken to The Hague to answer for his “crimes” against humanity.

Video from Thursday’s Canva Create event in Los Angeles shows a hip hop performance that certainly evokes Miranda’s “Hamilton” style, judging by the fact that it was Miranda’s name that was trending, and not the product itself, this weekend. And not in a flattering way.

During the event in which Canva, a graphic design and software company, launched updates to its namesake app, two presenters played an intro, claiming to have heard music from backstage and coming out on left of the stage before a troupe of dancers came out and acted out what was happening. many users described this performance as a “squeaky” performance.

“You can rethink your work, Canva has that sparkle. We redesigned everything from scratch. Customize your workspace and make it your own. Oh, now you do magic when you’re in the zone,” the song began, and it continued in that style throughout.

He was a technology professional Alex Cohensharing the clip posted by another tech veteran Andy Allenwho really got the ball rolling on X by posting that it was

“The cringiest shit I’ve ever seen in my entire tech career.”

That’s when references to Miranda started pouring in by the dozens, along with other less-than-enthusiastic reactions.

There were, however, some reservations.

And past tech gripes also made a few appearances, with some saying Canva failed to win the title.

If you’ve never seen the latter… allow us the honor of introducing you.

As of this posting, Lin-Manuel Miranda has not responded to calls for him to be fired for crimes against humanity or technological ruin.
