The film – which won’t hit theaters until May 23 – is a prequel to the acclaimed 2015 blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road.
Creator George Miller is returning to direct the film, which is an origin story for the title character, played by Charlize Theron in the previous film.
Anya plays young Furiosa in the upcoming film, which takes place 15 to 20 years before the events of Mad Max: Fury Road, while Chris plays the warlord, Dementus.

The Thor star, 40, described the villainous character as “a very violent, crazy, brutal person born from the Wasteland.”
He added: “(Dementus) was born into a space where you have to kill or be killed. He learned to rule with an iron fist. He has charisma and it’s very manipulative.
Although full reviews won’t be available until closer to the release date, early reactions to Furiosa from a wide range of film critics have been promising.
They praised George’s direction and universally praised Anya and Chris’s performances, with many commenting that the film was a worthy addition to the franchise.
George described the prequel as “a saga” that will take place over a 15-year period, which is very different from Fury Road, which spanned three days.
Filming for Furiosa took place in New South Wales, Australia, beginning in June 2022 and ending in October.
Anya recently admitted that filming was a very difficult experience for her and hinted at several challenges behind the scenes.
In an interview with The New York Times this week, she said: “I have never been more alone than I was while making this film.
“I don’t want to go too far, but everything I thought was easy was hard. Like I knew I was going to need the two years it took for the movie to come out to deal with it.

When asked to elaborate, Anya responded cryptically: “Talk to me in 20 years. »
