On the eve of a world premiere of the Cannes Film Festival, it would be understandable and so easily forgiven, if you meet the casting, the filmmaker and the creative collaborators behind a competition entry and found them nervous, on the edge or perhaps a little nervous. Not Lynne Ramsay and his team Die, my love.
The emotions radiating Friday at the sunset of the beloved of Cannes, her list of producers and stars, notably Jennifer Lawrence, Robert Pattinson, Lakeith Stanfield and Sissy Spacek, are better described as calm, cool and confident on what turned out to be one of these perfect evenings on the French river. Even a light mist disappeared in time for cocktails at the top of the terrace by Albane at the JW Marriott during an exclusive filmmaker dinner in honor of Die, my love sponsored by Longines and presented by The Hollywood Reporter.
Die, my love? Not so fast. One could also say that love was alive and flowing as collaborators, many of whom had not seen themselves since production, the embrace and caught up by the terrace before sitting for an attractive summer dinner prepared by the Argentinian chief Mauro Colonco, who owns and exploits the three Michelin Star Mirazur in Menton, France. It included artichoke entries with chips of Bottarga and older parmesan and marinated tomatoes, basil and buffalo mozzarella, followed by the main routes of John Dory or a beef steak, both served with green asparagus and green pea. For dessert: Rum Baba with chicken milk and caramel caramel or strawberries with creamy white chocolate and elderflower.

Before the table lessons, THR The chief editor Maer Roshan and the Longines Mattias Breschan offered brief but sincere toasts to the Die my loveE team. Roshan went first, offering how “delighted” he had to be (alongside the publisher Lori O’Connor, the Guru Scott Feinberg of PMC and the finance of the vice-presidents of PMC and the finance Jerry Ruiz) before expressing “our deepest gratitude” to the creative team. He also noted a determination in the room so that the film won a distributor before the world’s world premiere at the big light.
Roshan also shouted the producers on the title of Cannes, which includes Lawrence and her excellent corpse partner Justine Ciarrocchi (a pair that was the last in Cannes for their documentary Bread and Roses), Andrea Calderwood, Black Label Media by Molly Smith, Thad and Trent Luckingl and Bruce Franklin (an executive producer). Lawrence was quick to shout and ensure that another emblematic name drew attention: Martin Scorsese. (The beginnings of Cannes of Die, my love Mark a moment for the black label media, last here for the acclaimed by the criticism Sicario de Denis Villeneuve.)
Roshan presented Breschan, CEO of Longines, who benefits from a long -term partnership with Lawrence (which sported a Longines Dolcevita watch). “Because we come from the time, time counts, so for us, it is really an honor and a pleasure to be here,” he said. “It’s really incredible to have this private moment to meet here on a very, very emotional occasion.”
Breschan then relied on one of the most eminent slogans of Longines – “elegance is an attitude” – to explain what he saw himself reflected during the time of cocktails while the team caught up and posed for photographs during the event, organized by “Queen of Cannes” Danielle Pelland and his brilliant advice. “I could see that you define the elegance of the way I see elegance,” he praised. (An appropriate compliment in the presence of Lawrence, which was congratulated in the advertisements of Longines to be the embodiment of this with its “natural elegance and style”)))

In Die, my loveRamsay threw the winner of the Oscars to play a new mother suffering from postpartum depression when she has trouble maintaining a grip on reality. Ramsay, who made a scenario that she co-written with Enda Walsh and Alice Birch, is back in Cannes after projections out of competition in previous years for her debut Rats hunter,, We have to talk about Kevin With Tilda Swinton and Ezra Miller, and You were never really there With Joaquin Phoenix.
And she seemed to dip in the first moments of her return to the French Riviera. While she revealed that they were still cutting the film in a race to finish in time for the world first, stress did not appear. But pre-prime compliments were definitely present. (Also present: Rick Yorn, Cooke Maroney, Jennifer Metcalf, Bron Heussenstamm, Chris Donelly, Grace Clisshold, Nick Frankel, Rachel Hampton, Tim Grimes, the editor of the film Toni Froschammer Weiman Seid, Courtney Kivowitz, Huy Nguyen and Daniel Angeles.
“It’s quite surprising that this whole group is realizing,” said Ciarrocchi, addressing dinner guests. “Each film is an odyssey. It has taken so much blood, sweat, care and mind. Coming together in Cannes is overwhelming. I think I can speak in the name of everyone in this room saying that working with Lynne Ramsay is easily one of the greatest privileges of our career so far.”
