TORONTO — Canadian police made the first arrests Friday in the shooting death of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar last year outside a gurdwara in British Columbia, according to a Canadian official familiar with the matter.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive law enforcement issue, said the three men who were arrested are Canadian Indians suspected of being part of a organized crime network acting on behalf of the Indian government and its intelligence apparatus.
