The 2025 quarter harvest was not the most announced group in the history of the NFL draft, and it certainly took place as announced.
Cam Ward was the obvious choice of Tennessee Titans for choice n ° 1, but the QBs were mainly parts from there. Jaxson Dart was the only other selection in the first round, with Tyler Shough as a second autonomous round and Jalen Milroe and Dillon Gabriel completing the Friday evening selections quartet.
Sheder Sanders, you may have heard, was the sixth QB of the table and the 144th player taken. Last year, in comparison, six quarter-backs disappeared during the first dozens of choices.
It is more than plausible that the NFL will be proven with these quarters, because they will have to considerably exceed expectations to obtain their diploma from their initial backup roles. Let us examine the seven -quarters which have just been drafted with the best chances of succeeding in the league.
1. Cam Ward, titans
Why Ward can succeed
Ward has a solid arm, a natural ability to direct a cloakroom and a relentless will to prove itself that stems from being overlooked as a high school. It was incredibly productive at Incarnate Word, Washington State and Miami, where Ward has established itself as a familiar name and easy QB1 in the class.
The titans fell in love with Ward. Their new regime, including director general Mike Borgonzi and deputy director general Dave Ziegler, include the importance of the quarters surrounded with talent and tools to help them succeed. Organizational support is essential for the success of the QB.
Ward can make each throw. He is an intelligent and complete player with a high football IQ and a work ethics. He can rush, make out platform throws and maneuver his arms angles to pass with precision while extending the games. There is a lot to love in your set of tools.
Why Ward can fail
He was guilty of having played the Hero Ball in Miami, although his coaches took the fault for this. But if these features continue as a recruit as Ward takes over a team that has just made the worst record of the League, it will be a bumpy start.
And frankly, the new regime of titans must still prove itself. Head coach Brian Callahan helped the development of Joe Burrow with the Bengals of Cincinnati, but Will Levis and the offense endured many problems in 2024.
There is work to do in Tennessee.
2. Jalen Milroe, Seahawks
Why Milroe can succeed
A few months ago, a personnel director said that the best performances of Milroe – in particular his performance against Georgia – were representative of a player who could be the first choice of draft. Of course, these performances did not occur in a fairly coherent way, which led Milroe to slip into the third round.
But Milroe seemed intended to be a choice of draft of the Seahawks. They are absolutely perfect for each other, and the Seahawks will have a plan to use the former Alabama star.
They want to deploy a heavy team and can use Milroe electric athletics as an extension of this. Obviously, Sam Darnold has been signed to start in the foreseeable future, but the Seahawks will have packages in place for Milroe if necessary.
The Seahawks worked to build their offensive line and their rear field, and the defense of coach Mike Macdonald should take another step forward. This team does not expect their quarter to do everything, which is good news for a young player. If the success of Darnold with the Vikings of Minnesota does not translate, his contract does not prohibit the Seahawks from moving to Milroe while they are preparing for 2026.
Why Milroe can fail
If Darnold plays well and remains healthy, Milroe may never see the ground in Seattle. Milroe also needs to improve considerably as a smuggler, and he cannot be shy to show his race capacity, who is an element where he has improved a bit in the past year.
Milroe is more a development perspective, which is difficult in an NFC West that is too competitive. Darnold will have all opportunities to help Seahawks try to compete for a division title.
3. Jaxson Dart, Giants
Why DART can succeed
Coach Brian Daboll has helped Josh Allen with the Buffalo Bills and obtained a decent game from Daniel Jones for a season before he collapsed, he therefore has an offensive successful history.
Dart is launching a good ball, and its athletics and its competitiveness appear in the racing game, where Daboll can use it on creator games. DART is a voluntary leader and has been a coveted perspective for years, so the former star of the USC and Ole Miss should be comfortable with the pressure that accompanies the game in New York.
The giants also have a nice group of skills players, with the Malik Nabers, Wan’Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton receivers, as well as the Tyrone Tracy Jr. runners and the Cam Skattebo recruit.
Why the dart can fail
This is a season filled with pressure for the Giants, because Daboll and the director general Joe Schoen must provide results in 2025 to keep their jobs. It is a level of emergency that can be felt throughout the organization, and the impatience of fans has become a major scenario last season.
The giants plan to start Russell Wilson, who will protect Dart urgently on an urgent need to occur immediately. But what happens if the losses rose early and the giants are forced to go to Dart?
And if the giants do not obtain results and change the coaches in a year, Dart will start again in a new system. Beyond that, the following regime (in this hypothetical scenario) could prefer another QB, causing the Dart’s paw on the depth painting.
Many things may have to go to the right so that Dart puts himself on the ground in the near future.
4. Tyler Shough, Holy
Why Shough can succeed
The 6 fetch 4 inches and 219 pounds has an ideal size and strength of arms. Shough, who is 26 years old in September, is also mature and ready to start, which is important given the uncertainty about the shoulder injury of Derek Carr.
Aside from Ward, Shough has the clearest way to start as a recruit because of the Carr situation. In one way or another, Shough should have an early opportunity to show what he can do for head coach Kellen Moore.
Why Shough can fail
The saints are not exactly implemented for an offensive success. They waded under the trainer Dennis Allen and could not make him work with one or the other of his coordinators, and they change calls again.
Because Shough was a second round choice, the saints are not really forced to stay with him beyond 2025. There is an exciting harvest of upcoming quarters in 2026, so that saints can turn to someone with a higher ceiling if they are in good place to write one.
Shuch, who has long history of injuries, must remain good enough to give himself a chance to gain brass from the saints.
5. Will Howard, Steelers
Why Howard can succeed
Howard played his best ball in the university football playoffs to lead the Ohio State to the national championship, so he has the Moxie required to play for a proud Steelers franchise against an exhausting AFC North calendar.
At 6 feet 4 inches and 236 pounds, Howard also has a more size to play in this difficult division. The Steelers want to run the ball and play a strong defense, removing as much shoulders from their quarter. With Wideout DK Metcalf, the tight winger Pat Freiermuth and the George Pickens receiver (until it is exchanged), Howard will have weapons and the offensive line has improved.
Howard has been much appreciated for years. After leaving the state of Kansas, there were people of Miami staff who wanted Howard in the transfer portal if they could not land.
The Steelers are still optimistic, Aaron Rodgers will jump on board, so Howard should have time to sit and learn.
Why Howard can fail
While Howard was great in the section, he played in easy mode for the most talented team in the country. It is not always clear how much credit deserves a quarter in these circumstances.
Tour it forward, it is not known when or if Howard will see the field because no one can predict how many rodgers will play longer. In addition, the Steelers could write another quarter-Arrière in 2026 to stifle the Howard path to the programming.
6. Sheder Sanders, Browns
Why Sanders can succeed
After what happened this weekend, Sanders should be motivated to prove that the League is wrong. He was a complicated assessment, and the personality problems were legitimate with each team. Sanders was incompatible with his interviews during the pre-trafic process, raising fears of the teams not to be a leader to take charge of an NFL cloakroom.
If this message has struck at home and is ready to mature in this regard, he can let his game take over. And in this case, we do not know what Sanders can accomplish.
The Browns are in a bridge period with Deshaun Watson, probably for the 2025 season with a second torn Achilles. Sanders and his colleague recruit Dillon Gabriel will compete with the veterans Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco for the departure work.
If this fall in the draft was unjustified and Sanders was indeed talented enough to be a choice of first round, it should start several games as a recruit, at least.
Why Sanders can fail
There were a lot of qualifications in the above section. Many things have to go well so that it is reaching the ground soon.
Sanders must show that he can graduate from the simplistic system of Colorado to execute an offense of the NFL. He must also prove that football is more important than its brand.
If he can do these things, he must always overcome adversity with the Browns, which are handcuffed by the Watson contract and have holes on the list. Even if things go well enough for Sanders in 2025, the Browns have a first round in 2026 as well as the choice of jaguars, they will therefore have a golden opportunity to draw from a more decorated quarter class.
7. Dillon Gabriel, Browns
Why Gabriel can succeed
First, the Browns love him more than Sanders. It is not an opinion. They made Gabriel 50 choices earlier.
Gabriel was a candidate for the Heisman Trophy at Oregon and was very productive at UCF and Oklahoma. He is a facilitator, a bit like Bo Nix, and he will quickly take out the ball. This should be a good choice for the plan of coach Kevin Stefanski.
If Gabriel picks up the offensive faster than Sanders, the former duck will create a separation against his colleague recruited on the table of depths, because it will be almost for a fourth draw to win quality practice representatives.
Why Gabriel can fail
At 5 feet 11 inches, Gabriel’s size is a concern, and it is not a large athlete. It will also be a challenge to jump both Pickett and Flacco. And if the two veterans are on the list during the season, Gabriel would not get many training representatives as a third stem either.
And as we have noted with other intermediaries, if Gabriel does not make a first impression of quality, nothing prevents the Browns from addressing the position again in a year.
