Camila Cabello Explores New Sounds and Coming-of-Age Themes in ‘C,XOXO’ Album
June 28 (UPI) — Camila Cabello released her fourth studio album, C,XOXOwhich she compares to a coming-of-age story.
“It was like this exploration from childhood into womanhood,” she said in an interview.
And that journey gave birth to radically different pieces of hits like “Havana” and “Señorita.”
“I think what would be inauthentic is to give the audience what you know is going to work for you, or what they already expect from you,” she said. “That’s the easiest way to keep saying, ‘Oh, you like ‘Havana,’ I’ll give you five more.’”
“But it’s so much riskier and it comes from a place of artistic integrity to say, ‘Well, I’m actually going to step away from what everyone knows and loves about me to try things and experiment and grow as an artist,’” she added.
This artistic integrity led her to reach out to Drake for constructive criticism, which resulted in a collaboration on this album.

“My dream artists are on my album,” Cabello said on Facebook.
In a separate post she shared before C,XOXO’S In her statement, Cabello described her latest project as “a side of me that I love living in.”
“C, XOXO “It’s pink and blue ski masks, never being without lip gloss, coming alive during the blue hour, having long nails and eyeliner sharp enough to kill a man, crying with your makeup on and sending text photos to your friends,” Cabello said. “It’s bikinis under t-shirts, it’s hair sticking to dinner after the beach, it’s tan lines and white wine with your girls…”
