Cameron Diaz on returning to Hollywood, more romantic comedies

Cameron Diaz is not trying to put a label on his return to Hollywood.

The actress, who has just made her big return to the screen with Netflix Back in action after a 10-year hiatus, recently shared with Empire magazine if that means she’s back for good.

“I don’t know how I see it. It’s hard to say,” she explained. “If I say it, then it becomes this thing. I reserve the right to say no to the idea of ​​making a film again, and I reserve the right to say yes if I decide to. I don’t define anything. I’m just open to whatever makes sense to me and my family at any time.

THE Charlie’s Angels The star, who appeared in numerous romantic comedies in the late ’90s and 2000s, also clarified what genre of film she wasn’t necessarily looking to revisit. “No more romantic comedies, just romantic comedies,” she added.

Diaz is best known for some of her iconic roles in romantic comedies such as The holidays, My best friend’s wedding, The other woman, What’s happening in Vegas And In his shoes. However, his new film Back in action is an action comedy also starring Jamie Foxx.

The film follows former CIA spies Emily (Diaz) and Matt (Foxx), who are drawn back into espionage after their secret identities are revealed. The film also served as a reunion for the two actors, who previously starred together in 1999. On any given Sunday and 2014 Annie (which was also Daiz’s last on-screen role before his hiatus).

“I thought if I was going to come back and do a movie, the only person I would come back and do it with would be this guy,” she said of Foxx. “Seriously. I had other opportunities along the way and I was always like, ‘No. I’m not doing it, I told you… What? Jamie asked? Jamie? Oh, I can do a movie with Jamie!’”

Over the past decade, Diaz has welcomed two children, daughter Raddix and son Cardinal, with her husband, Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden. She also launched the clean wine brand Avaline with her partner Katherine Power in 2020.
