Call the Midwife’s Megan Cusack reveals Nancy’s new romance and future in Poplar

Call the Midwife star Megan Cusack has opened up about the future of her character Nancy Corrigan on Poplar after striking up a romance with her new flame Roger (Conor O’Donnell).

In the Christmas special episodes, fans saw Nancy and Roger fall head over heels in love, with Roger asking the nurse to introduce him to her daughter, Colette, and later joining them for Christmas lunch at Nonnatus House.

But what does Nancy’s new romance mean for her future in Poplar? At the launch of series 14, Megan spoke to HELLO! and other media about what lies ahead for his character.

Asked about Nancy’s future in Poplar after being offered a new job in Surrey in series 12, Megan replied: “Surrey isn’t that far away? I think there are a lot of decisions but she now has Rogerwho has a job, so there’s a lot to come with little Colette and understanding their family dynamic.”

Opening up about Nancy’s new relationship, Megan explained that it’s been a long time coming. “I think it’s one of those things of the time, having a child out of wedlock, those kinds of things that seem more out of reach and for Nancy, that’s all she ever wanted,” he said. explained the star.

“Having everything that allowed her to have someone in her life and she lets her guard down because she has a moment of feeling that actually, she’s worth it and deserves this happy ending and these are all the others who led her to be able to have this belief,” Megan added.

The hit period drama returns with its 14th series on Sunday January 5 at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.

The new episodes open in March 1970 to find the nuns of Nonnatus House supporting a frightened teenager who has become pregnant.

The synopsis for the first episode reads: “The year is March 1970. The team supports a pregnant teenager whose parents believe in an immaculate conception. The protests take a toll on Nonnatus’ team, while the relationship of Nancy is thriving.”

Sharing a sneak peek at the new series, Jenny Agutter – aka Sister Julienne – said in a behind-the-scenes video posted on the show’s official social media page: “Automatically there’s something very different about the ’60s and 70. For the community Poplar sees more wealth and more growth.”

The actress continues: “In the 70s, we had the impression that there were a lot of things to resolve. People expected more. There were strikes, there were difficulties.
