Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was announced at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 with a film trailer.
Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is the very first consecutive version of the Black Ops sub-series. Matt Cox, managing director of Call of Duty, insisted that “as a team, our vision from the start was to create a consecutive experience in the series for our players who kissed the uniqueness of the Black Ops sub-franchise.”
No release window has been announced. Here is the official presentation text:
Curning advanced technology, David Mason and his team must fight against a manipulative enemy who arms fear above all.
Black Ops 7 takes place in 2035, more than 40 years after the events of Black Ops 6, at a time when the world is on the verge of chaos after the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6 of last year. Cooperative campaign for Black Ops 7 after 6 jumped (you can still play the solo campaign). Expect to use quasi-fetches in multiplayer, with brand new cards. There is the next chapter of the round zombies in the heart of the dark ether.
According to VarietyBlack Ops 7 will feature Milo Ventimiglia, Kiernan Shipka and Michael Rooker. Ventimiglia will play David Mason, Shipka plays Emma Kagen and Rooker resumes her black ops 2 role from Mike Harper.
By announcing that Black Ops 7 to follow Black Ops 6 a year later, some fans will consider the game something of a stop stop, because Modern Warfare 3 of 2023 was considered by some within the community, since the game followed Modern Warfare 2 of 2022.
But Cox insisted on the fact that Black Ops 7 “provides Call of Duty’s full package for our players, and we can’t wait to show the community more about what studio teams worked when we reveal later this summer.”
Tyler Bahl, manager of marketing Activision Publishing, added: “The team seeks to rely on the incredible community enthusiasm and the excitement that we have seen in the Black Ops universe. It is therefore the first time that we have stayed in the Black Ops series with consecutive versions for black ops 6 players and Drutze’s call: Warze before turning to Black. 7
“Our official teaser sets the tone to the players to kiss the madness that has entered the story of Black Ops 7.
“The delivery of consecutive black ops games also allows our teams the great opportunity to draw not only from our own creativity, but also to adopt the passage of a framework of the 90s to the new Future 2035 frame in our marketing.”
It is also confirmed that Activision sticks to latest generation consoles for Black Ops 7, which is to be released in the X and S series, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC via “Xbox PC”, Battle.net and Steam. As you can imagine, you can play one on Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass. There was no mention of Nintendo Switch 2 in the ad.
