While detectives roamed the phone of a man from the County of Sonoma arrested for suspicion of possession of juvenile pornography, they would have found a different form of disturbing media – videos of the man sexually assaulting a small dog.
Now the man faces charges for the mistreatment of animals and children.
Jeremiah Ortega, 26, was initially arrested for suspicion of possession of juvenile pornography on April 3 and released on Monday following a court hearing, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff.
The police say that they later discovered the images of the dog and rearranged Ortega two days later in Santa Rosa, suspected of cruelty to animals, of sexual assault of an animal violation and probation.
The detectives brought the dog to Sonoma County animal services for examination and care. Refuge representatives have said they are unable to provide an update on the dog’s condition due to the current criminal investigation.
Ortega, on the other hand, was charged with seven crimes – a chief of cruelty towards animals, two charges of obscene laces with a child using force and fear, three chiefs of obscene acts on a child and a chief of possession of juvenile pornography, according to the judicial archives. He was arrested on Friday and should plead his plea on May 2.
Its deposit, which was initially set at $ 27,000, has since been collected at $ 77,000 in light from the new charges. He remains in detention at the Sonoma county adult detention center, according to the Sheriff’s office.
Ortega has already been arrested for suspected driving driving last May and then undoubtedly pleaded for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more, according to the judicial archives.
Ortega did not argue any competitions with three heads of crime of small flight in 2023. In December, he was sentenced to 30 days in prison and 12 months of probation, according to the judicial archives.
