California cops shoot, kill man who charged them with steel bar, called them ‘pigs’

A California police officer shot and killed a man with a violent past on Sunday who charged him with a steel bar and called his team “pigs”.
Bodycam footage shows Adam Barcenas, 60, walking towards three officers making a DUI arrest at 6 a.m. in Oxnard, a town 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
“Hey you f-king pigs,” Barcenas can be heard shouting.
“I hate pigs. Come on. I hate pig. I hate you. I hate you. I hate you.”
With a 5ft steel bar raised, Barcenas stormed the three cops as they stood on the sidewalk with a driver they suspected of driving under the influence.
The agents dismissed the citizen and repeatedly ordered the belligerent to lower the bar.
“Barcenas ignored orders from the officers and continued to advance towards them in an aggressive and threatening manner,” Oxnard Police said.
Two officers pulled out tasers, while another – whom Barcenas was apparently aiming for – drew his gun.
Officer Shayn Schwartz fired four fatal shots at the man charged, video shows.
Barcenas was hit three times: in the right leg, right hip and upper left torso.
An officer deployed his taser, but it did not penetrate Barcenas’ skin.
The third officer did not deploy his weapon.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but died about two hours later.

Barcenas had a history of violent crimes, KVTA reported.
He attacked two elderly strangers on the street in two separate unprovoked attacks in 2019.
He rushed towards a 71-year-old woman, punched her in the head, pushed her to the ground and then kicked her several times. She died eight days later, but prosecutors could not definitively link her death to the Barcenas attack.

Shortly after, he approached an 80-year-old man who was walking with his wife and punched him in the face and walked away before returning to deliver a second blow.
The three officers have been placed on administrative leave, the department said. None had been involved in a shooting incident before.
Schwartz joined the Oxnard Police Department in April 2022, the agency said. He had served as an officer with the Burbank Police Department from August 2018 to March 2022.
The city is investigating the shooting.
