California gives residents another chance to enter thousands of dollars in free cash for the purchase of an electric bike after a similar offer last year saw a massive wave of applications.
Next week, Californians who correspond to the eligibility conditions described by the California E-Bike incentive project can request a good up to $ 2,000 for the purchase of an electric bike if they join the waiting list between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
In December, the California Air Resources Board announced a similar offer but awarded good on a basis at first arrival, the first served, which led to more than 100,000 requests for only 1,500 good available. The application window suddenly closed after only 45 minutes.
The state has adjusted its approach this time.
What has changed in the demand process?
On Tuesday, potential candidates should enter an online waiting room between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. by clicking on the “Apply” button on the website.
According to the program website. In the end, up to 1,000 requests will be approved for the right ones, according to the website.
To date, the program broadcasting the program has more than 150,000 subscribers and “now that the project has had more advertising (the first window of candidates), we expect this number to be higher,” said Lindsay Buckley, communications director of California Air Resources Board.
In order to better serve the candidates, the agency has contracted with a supplier working with incentive programs with high demand similar across the country.
“The waiting room and the randomization process will be managed by the supplier and guarantees that our servers will not be affected by the high volume of traffic,” she said.
Why has the process changed?
In the drawing in December, the candidates complained of not being able to connect within minutes of opening the application. Some have displayed screenshots on social networks estimated waiting times exceeding an hour. There were complaints that the application process frozen or produced error messages.
“Overall, there was a confusion about the waiting room, the queue and the candidates’ selection process,” said Buckley. “We have since applied lessons learned from other programs and those learned from the experience with the first window to improve our processes.”
What are your chances of applying for the electric bike voucher?
We don’t know how many Californians plan to apply, but everyone will have the same luck as long as they applied at 6 p.m., Buckley said.
In the December drawing which was the first to arrive, the first served, the state gave 1,500 good and nearly 100,000 requests were submitted, according to the Air Resources board of directors.
To date, 916 vouchers have been allocated and 698 have been bought, according to recent data from the agency.
“We expected the demand would be great, and it was and should persist,” said Buckley.
The program started with $ 3 million, in order to provide good for the purchase of 1,500 electric bikes.
Who is eligible for the program?
Applicants must be residents of California who are 18 years old or more with an annual household income at 300% or less of the level of federal poverty.
This means that a household cleaning should not earn more than $ 45,000 per year, and a household with two members should not earn more than $ 61,320 to qualify.
