Caitlin Clark shakes off Fever’s slow start by hitting two clutch shots to seal her FIRST WNBA win over Sparks and No. 2 overall draft pick Cameron Brink.

Caitlin Clark made up for a slow start against Cameron Brink and the Los Angeles Sparks to seal her first WNBA victory Friday night.

The No. 1 overall draft pick and Indiana struggled in their first five games and headed to Star City after an 85-83 loss to the Seattle Storm on Wednesday.

However, they didn’t let their lead slip away as they cruised to a 78-73 victory over Los Angeles in front of 19,103 spectators.

Clark had just five points before using his arsenal of long-range shots to put the nail in the coffin in the final minutes. With 2:27 left, Clark hit a 33-foot pull-up jumper to give Indiana a six-point advantage.

About a minute later, Brink responded with a three-pointer from 26 feet. But as the Sparks cut the deficit to two, Clark hit another three to put the Fever on cruise control.

Before Friday’s Fever-Sparks game, Clark’s former college rival Angel Reese appeared to attack the former Iowa star on X following the Chicago Sky’s win over the New York Liberty in Brooklyn THURSDAY.

“And it’s about winning in a crowded area and not just because of one player on our charter flight. #SKYTOWN,” she wrote, with a kissing emoji at the end.

Clark was credited with the renewed interest in the WNBA after being picked first by Indiana in the April draft – the same event where Reese was chosen by Chicago.

The two were also big rivals in college, with Reese playing at LSU while Clark was at Iowa.

Reese and the Sky didn’t have charter flights at the start of the season, but Clark and Indiana did, losing their first five games.

Speaking on Thursday, Reese denounced suggestions that women’s basketball was riding high on Clark’s back.

“It’s not just about one person, I think people don’t realize that (because) the narrative is that one person is a game-changer,” she said.

” We are numerous. There are so many great players and this was long overdue and just being able to see our impact was able to change the game.
