Liza Minnelli was photographed in a rare public outing after enjoying a night out with friends in Los Angeles, DailyMail.com can reveal.

The cabaret performer and daughter of the late Judy Garland was seen for the first time in nearly a year while returning home to Beverly Hills last Thursday evening, according to exclusive photos.

Minnelli, who turned 78 last month, was dropped off in a Cadillac sedan before being helped out of the car and into her wheelchair by two friends.

The Hollywood star looked glamorous for a night out on the town, wearing full makeup and wearing her signature all-black.

Ahead of the release, Liza was last photographed leaving a restaurant in West Hollywood last June, around the time it was reported she needed 24-hour care due to fears persistent for his health.

However, she seemed in a good mood for this evening outing, which comes a few weeks after her 78th birthday, on March 12.

Minnelli showed her characteristic wit as she opened up about her secret to survival in an interview on her special day.

The star has persevered through the ups and downs of her fame, including setbacks such as health issues and tumultuous relationships.

“I am so grateful for all the well wishes and all the love coming my way. Not just on my birthday, but always,” the superstar – who is in the films Cabaret and Arthur – shared with People.

She also revealed plans for the “fabulous” celebration of her big day, which includes a gift from Italian jewelry line Elsa Peretti.

“A party is being thrown in my honor by my dear friends (pianist) Michael Feinstein and Terrence Flannery,” she explained.
