BALTIMORE – In the middle of a sequence of 10 consecutive victories, after having taken a three -point lead on the Baltimore Orioles during the third round Thursday, the twins lost Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa for injuries after a collision in the central field.
Correa and Buxton pursued a flying ball from the Orioles Cedric Mullins in the shallow central field. Buxton, running forward, obtained the socket before crashing on Correa, who had his back on his teammate.
Buxton’s head appeared to hit Correa’s left shoulder and the back of his head. The two players had their glasses dislodged as they fell to the ground. The two players were broken for a few minutes because they were examined by members of the Twins training staff.
After a few minutes, Correa carefully left the ground alongside the head coach Nick Paparesta. Buxton, who struck a solo circuit at the top of the third round for his 10th circuit of the season, remained temporarily in the match, but he did not return to the fourth round.
The collision comes one day after Ty France (contusion of the left foot) and Harrison Bader (waterproofing of the left groin) left the double-head of Wednesday with injuries. France entered the fourth round on Thursday, filling the Place de Buxton in the programming.
