Buzz Williams was hired as the new male basketball coach in Maryland, ending his six years in Texas A&M.
Maryland announced hiring on Tuesday but did not disclose conditions. Sources told Pete Thamel d’Espn that Williams had signed a six -year contract.
The terraaps had sought a new head coach after Kevin Willard left Maryland on Sunday to become the new head coach of Villanova.
Maryland will now turn to Williams, who has led to the Aggies with four consecutive victories and three consecutive trips to the NCAA tournament.
Williams has a career record of 372-228 out of 18 seasons in Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Marquette and New Orleans.
